2016 Bike Month Westside HappeningsApril 28th, 2016
May is National Bike Month and there is a lot happening. Bike Month was established in 1956 by the League of American Bicyclists as a chance to showcase the many benefits of bicycling and encourage more folks to give it a try. If you haven’t heard yet the BTA has also moved the Bike Commute Challenge to May and is now the Bike More Challenge. Throughout the month of May the WTA will support the Bike More Challenge as well as sponsor the following programs to encourage biking in Washington County:
Commuter Breakfast on the Trail
Meet WTA on the Sunset Trail (trailhead @ SW Park Ave and SW Knollcrest Dr, Beaverton) on Friday, May 13, 7:30-8:30 AM to grab a to-go breakfast on your bike ride into work.
For our members:
Ride for a Prize
Ride your bike during the week of May 23 -27. One of the days WTA will drop prizes on any bike parked at work. Who knows which day, so ride every day!
Bike More Challenge WTA League Trophy
The Bike More Challenge no longer officially has the Leagues but we are able to crunch the member data and keep the WTA League Trophy going. We are still determining the measurement but the more coworkers bicycling during the month of May is the key to winning the trophy!
Below is our official Bike Month poster, as well as some resources we put together to help get you going via two wheels:
- Ride and Classes Calendar
- Commuting by Bike Tips from our very own Business Relations Manager
- WA County Bike Fix It Stations One-Sheet to go along with our online map
