Summer is a great time to rethink your daily commute. With warmer weather, longer days, and more people out of the office on vacation, it can be an opportunity to help your employees try new ways of getting to work and avoid the stress of traffic.

Here are a few ways to make summer travel a little smoother for your team:
  • Encourage biking, walking, and scooting. Summer is one of the best times to try an active commute. Whether it's biking or scooting part of the way or walking or rolling to a nearby bus stop, the warmer weather makes it easier to explore new travel options. Get There Oregon offers great resources for getting started, including bike safety tips and route planning tools.
  • Explore the region with transit. Summer is the perfect time to leave the car at home and explore beyond the Westside. NW Connector provides information about bus service to and around the Oregon Coast, making it easy to visit destinations like Tillamook, Cannon Beach, and Pacific City. for a different kind of adventure, Columbia Area Transit (CAT) offers affordable bus service to popular Gorge destinations like Hood River and Multnomah Falls, a great option for summer day trips!
  • Share ride-matching tools. Carpooling can be a great option for employees with longer commutes. Get There Oregon makes it easy to find carpool partners and offers helpful tips for getting a new carpool started. WTA can also help by creating and running customized carpool matching campaigns for member organizations. Interested employers can contact us to learn more.
  • Support remote and flexible work. Summer schedules often shift with vacations and events. Flexible work hours or remote options can help reduce peak-hour traffic and give employees more control over their commute.
