Seattle Survey Says: The Happiest Commute is The Bike Ride

Seattle’s bike commuters have long known what the latest city-wide commute survey has recently revealed: riding a bike to work isn’t just more affordable and healthy—it’s fun and satisfying.
 
It’s one of many insights about commute choices, motives, and trends uncovered in the 2024 Seattle Commute Survey. Other key findings include: 

• More in-person work has increased transit and drive-alone trips
• Over one third of workers still have hybrid work schedules—Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday were the most popular days for in-person work
• Biking netted the top satisfaction rating (+33) followed by walking (+20)
• Driving alone received the lowest satisfaction rating (-43)
• Saving money, reducing driving stress, and cutting air pollution and carbon emissions were top reasons for using commute options
