TriMet is making upgrades to rail crossings at three locations in Washington County that will require shuttle buses to replace portions of MAX Blue and Red line service from July 26–August 8.
Closing sections of the MAX system will allow crews to improve 30-year-old rail crossings — where roads, sidewalks or paths cross railroad tracks — helping to ensure smoother and more reliable trips for MAX riders.
Expect Westside MAX trips to take an extra 15 to 30 minutes longer than usual as TriMet works to improve at-grade crossings along the alignment.
Shuttle buses will arrive every eight minutes during most of the day while the project is underway.
Week 1
July 26 – August 1
Shuttle buses replace MAX between Elmonica/SW 170th and Millikan Way.
Shuttle buses will serve Beaverton Creek at SW 153rd & 154th Terrace, about a five minute walk south of the station.
All other stations will be served at an adjacent bus platform.
Week 2
August 2 – 8
Shuttle buses replace MAX between Willow Creek/SW 185th Transit Center and Merlo Rd/SW 158th.
Shuttle buses will serve Elmonica/SW 158th at Jenkins & Baseline, about a 5 minute walk north of the station.
All other stations will be served at an adjacent bus platform.
Regular MAX Blue and Red line service will resume on Sunday, August 9.
Crossings closed to autos
The crossing at Southwest Merlo Road will be closed to vehicles from July 26 through Aug. 1. The following week, Aug. 2–8, lanes of West Baseline Road near the crossing will be closed to vehicles and the crossing at Southwest 170th Avenue will be closed entirely.
