HOW DOES IT ALL WORK?
Workplaces compete against each other to see who can get the most staff to ride a bike and log their trips between May 1st and 31st. Anyone interested in taking the Challenge looks to see if their workplace is already registered. If it isn’t, they register themselves and their workplace team at the same time. They become the Team Captain, by default. Their coworkers register and join that workplace team.
Everyone logs their bike trips during the month of May. At the end of the month, WTA tallies the bike trips and ranks all workplaces in size categories by the percentage of commutes achieved by bike. In early June, WTA announces the WTA League workplace winner and other individual prizes for employees a big Challenge Awards Party (event TBD). It's not just about who can ride the most miles, but also who can encourage the most people to give bicycling a try. Of course, the more miles logged and the more bike trips you take, the more points you will earn. BUT, the fastest way to earn more points is to encourage more people to get on a bike and ride! |
